Findings published by Endometriosis UK indicate that 54% of people do not know what endometriosis is, with 45% of women unable to name a single symptom of the condition.
There is an alarming lack of awareness among the public and healthcare professionals, both likely contributing to the fact that most women wait an average of 7 years to receive a formal diagnosis.
